Lorely Burt speaking at Saffron Walden Liberal Democrats' annual dinner
Liberal Democrats from around the Saffron Walden constituency flocked to Dunmow for their Annual Dinner on Friday night. The dinner was held at the Dunmow Day Centre.
The guest speaker was Lorely Burt, MP for Solihull (photo attached), who spoke to the meeting about how she had overturned a 10,000 Conservative majority to win her seat at this year's general election.
She also spoke of her campaign to protect green spaces, and voiced her concern about the building of more runways, wherever they might be located (Birmingham International Airport, adjacent to Solihull, is also proposed to have a second runway)
Melvin Caton, Chairman of the Saffron Walden Constituency Liberal Democrats, said: "We found Lorely a great source of inspiration. In the May General Election she proved that it is possible to overturn a huge Conservative majority through campaigning on issues that local people care about. Liberal Democrats in the Saffron Walden constituency have a similar vigorous campaigning record over issues like Stansted Airport and recycling. It was a superb evening, and we all left full of enthusiasm to continue promoting the Liberal Democrat cause."
