Lib Dem councillors Martin Foley and Antoinette Wattebot look around the newly refurbished accommodation at Vicarage Mead.
Liberal Democrat-led Uttlesford District Council has given Thaxted a boost by agreeing to invest £225,000 in a new day centre. This is in addition to the £1.9 million spent on the refurbishment of Vicarage Mead.
A new day centre will replace the existing building, using energy-efficient design techniques and environmentally-friendly materials. The new building will offer a bigger and better service for up to 50 elderly people next year. The present day centre caters for 30.
Lib Dem Cllr Antoinette Wattebot said: "I'm delighted to see this major investment in Thaxted. These will be first class amenities, which will attract residents from Thaxted and surrounding villages."
