National Youth Week

Last week (Saturday 15th - Friday 21st November) was National Youth Week. The week aimed to change negative perceptions of young people.
Cllr Peter Wilcock, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, said "Thousands of young people make positive contributions to their communities every day, yet 60% of media coverage about young people is negative."
"On Thursday evening, I took the opportunity to visit Newport Youth Club at Jikes Hall. The Club has gone from strength to strength since it opened in 2006. Attendance has risen, with over 80 young people attending regularly on the two nights of the week that it is open."
Peter concluded "Youth Week highlights the positive difference that young people can make to Society."
