Peter Wilcock, the Liberal Democrat Candidate for Saffron Walden Constituency, with Liberal Democrat Leader Nick Clegg.

With a General Election confirmed for just over four weeks' time, the Liberal Democrats are looking forward to the campaign. Local candidate Peter Wilcock commented, "Here in Saffron Walden Constituency only the Liberal Democrats can beat the Conservatives. Labour and the Greens are out of the race: votes for them will just let the Conservatives back in."

"The national backdrop for the Liberal Democrats is good - a higher rating in the polls than in 2005; a popular Leader in Nick Clegg and a respected Shadow Chancellor in Vince Cable.
