Liberal Democrat councillors want the Planning Legal Agreement (S.106) and Planning Conditions to be reviewed and agreed by Uttlesford Council's Planning Committee before a Decision Notice is issued to Stansted Airport Limited/Manchester Airport Group.

This evening (Tuesday, April 9th), at Uttlesford's routine council meeting, Lib Dem councillors will invite councillors from across all political groups to sign the requisition calling for an Extraordinary Council Meeting to ensure the review takes plan and that a Decision Notice is not issued prematurely to the applicant.

The wording of the requisition is appended.

Lib Dem group leader, Cllr Alan Dean, said: "The Council has an obligation to ensure that the various agreements and conditions attached to any planning application are in the best interest of the residents of Uttlesford and the wider region. That requires transparent, democratic input. Otherwise, we risk having a weak deal that benefits mainly the airport."

Thaxted's Cllr Martin Foley added: "Noise, pollution, health, housing and general community benefits are all at risk from a poor deal. Six months will soon have passed since the decision to approve. It's time to take stock after the local elections are out of the way."
