Mike Hibbs hands over the Lib Dem baton to Smita Rajesh
Mike Hibbs, the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Saffron Walden constituency at the last three General Elections (2015, 2017 and 2019), handed over the baton to the Lib Dems newly selected prospective candidate Smita Rajesh last Friday.
Mike Hibbs congratulated Smita on her selection. He said:
“Following changes to the boundary of the constituency and the creation of the new North West Essex seat I am certain that Smita, at this critical time for our area and country, will campaign vigorously for a fairer deal for the people of North West Essex.”
Smita Rajesh thanked Mike Hibbs saying:
"I have a hard act to follow and am determined to build on the excellent second place you achieved in 2019. I would like to give the local Lib Dem members a big thank you for their support and for giving me this opportunity to represent them as their prospective candidate. My vision is to serve the community to the best of our abilities and put them at the core of our message. The Conservatives are failing at the centre and the forthcoming election is our chance to show them the way out.
"I am pleased that Labour recently acknowledged that they cannot win in North West Essex. Only the Liberal Democrats can beat the Tories here.”
Smita Rajesh has been a Chelmsford City Councillor since 2019. She is married with two children and lives on the boundary of the new constituency in Chelmsford.
